Bought my first "good" bike yesterday.
took over from ah liow, ah neo's boss.
700 is a good price for a 1yr old 1400 bike.
it feels like a hybrid, seated upright like a mountain bike, but it has the thin wheels of a road bike.
ofcos, it can only ride on roads then. it doesnt have shock absorbers too.
what it has is an internal hub gear, where all the gears are inside a cylinder, so it's maintenance free and the gears are safely protected from weather.
the front wheel has an internal dynamo as well, it doesn't give the wheels more drag when traveling. The halogen lamp is very bright.
all the gear system, shifters, switch-gears are from shimano.
wheels are double walled from maxxis.
Fork is the only part carbon fibre.
everything looks good, except there are some minor damage from falling before.
also i heard some sounds coming from the rear wheel or the internal hub gear the first time i brought it home.
it sounds like a ball bearing or a nut rolling against metal.
when the rear wheel moves, the sound will start.
when the wheel stops, the sound will continue for a while, as though pushed by momentum until it settles at the bottom.
i brought the bike for a checkup at rodalink upp thompson. but since the bike wasn't bought from there and the staff seemed busy repairing another bike and it's about 7pm, near to their closing hour 8pm, so they didn't do much checking on the bike. they tested the brakes and shifters as well as the wheels.
but the staff said he doesn't know how to open the internal hub gear system.
he doubts the staff at upp east coast rd branch will know either.
hmmm... but then, the sound disappeared by the time i reach the shop. maybe transporting it side ways in the van made the sound disappear. for watever it was, it didn't occur again.
i rode on it for 12km and about 20mins, nothing seems to be the problem. the sound didn't reappear. the ride is smooth, except that i can't seem to hit gear 7 or 8 as i can't really push the bike harder with my current stamina. need to train more.
since the sound disappeared, i think it's safe to buy it off ah liow. it was very nice of him to lend me the bike to try out a couple days before i even paid him anything. visited his penth house at upp east coast rd too. luxurious and spacious. he even owns the rooftop he used as a garden and fish pond. what if one day i can make this much to own a place like this?
he likes bruce lee, had some collections and figures i took some pictures of. bruce looks like the real thing in my phone.
heading off to yishun dam tonight. and might investigate those ufo flying above the sky nearby. might be released from park near yishun centre. can i go there?
and i should start getting bike gears! cycling computer first. USD so low, great time to buy from dealextreme.

It's been a long year.
Many has happened around myself and the small world around me.
Life has been more or less the same and there're the usual ups and downs.
Feeling kinda down lately, friends have grown apart, family having problem at home.
But i thought maybe i'd blog again, to have a little outlet to shout out at.
Also since i've teamed up with dom on a little venture on a blogging business.
Yes it's not yet a business, but we've gotta start somewhere.
Pro-blogging takes time and a bit of luck for others to read and pick up on our blog.
We decided to start with gadgets from all around the world.
Been watching a lot of Southpark, going through all seasons everyday at work or at home.
Gaming life revolves around League of Legends, Crysis 2 and Duke Nukem Forever.
My Aquarium is thriving with about 30 Tigerbarbs. 10 Zebra-stripe, 10 Blue, 10 orange.
Watching them swim around the tank calms me. Especially when they swim around the top of the tank waiting for me to feed them everytime i come close to the tank.
Also i've 2 prawns in a separate tank.
One of them has just shed its shell to grow bigger.
The white shell looks very much like Aliens' exoskeleton, slimy, smooth and full of goo.
Keeping these little pets are really interesting.
Not as troublesome as a dog/cat, and yet can have the satisfaction of having some life at home apart from plants.
For some reason i can't upload pics here with the "insert image" function. it only lets me upload but the pics doesn't appear. CRAP!
About time i stop to go play some games.
Gotta meet dom later online to show each other the posts we wrote. Also go to the BBQ with Lui2's colleagues. Wonder what are they like. Are they as dao as normal singaporeans are?

How to Cook Steak in a Frying Pan

This method ensures the juiciest, tastiest, well-done steaks and chops, despite the howls of derision that will probably arise from the lips of "expert" chefs!

Ingredients

Steaks or chops about 1-2" thick
Salt, pepper, herbs.
Cooking oil such as canola, peanut or a light olive oil
Butter

Steps

Rinse steaks with cold water, pat dry. Liberally sprinkle salt (preferably sea or kosher salt) and pepper over one side and rub in well, using either your fingertips or the back of a spoon. Turn meat over and repeat on the other side.
Pour some cooking oil into a frying pan and heat up to medium/medium high heat. When the oil is just about smoking (hot), put meat into pan, being careful not to crowd the steak so as to develop a flavorful crust (if you crowd the steak it will steam, not sear). You should hear a sizable sizzle.
After a few minutes, check the underside of the steak to see how the sear is developing. You are looking for a deep, brown/mahogany crust. Adjust the heat as necessary to avoid charring or overcooking the meat - you do not want to heat it too long or it will become dry.
When well seared, flip the meat and wait a few more minutes, depending on the thickness of your cut and how long the sear took to develop. Remove the pan from the heat, add a good chunk of butter and (optionally) some sprigs of thyme and rosemary. Another great way to add flavor is to make a brush out of the twiggy herbs and use it to slowly 'paint' the meat a few times with the butter and the pan juices. Often we see professional chefs 'basting' the flipped meat by spooning the hot oils onto it over and over. This can help develop a deeper top crust, but be careful not to splash the hot oils.
Remove from the heat when just under-done and WAIT 5-10 MINUTES. The residual heat of the steak will cook it to medium-rare perfection. Put aluminum foil over the meat to prevent heat loss, but always let the meat rest so the juices have a chance to settle in the steak. Consume.
You notice there are brown bits left in the pan (you used a stainless steel pan right?). You can make a sauce out of them by deglazing the pan with wine or stock and adding flavorings such as butter, herbs, shallot or garlic. This is known as a pan sauce.

Warnings

This technique produces an extremely well-done steak when the meat is less than one inch thick. Even changing the time of the second section to three minutes on each side may overcook your meat. For steaks that are about 1 inch thick, try reducing the time of the second section to two minutes on each side if you want a rare to medium rare steak.
Many steak eaters do not prefer their steak well-done. If you are cooking for someone else, please check with them for their doneness preference before cooking your meat in this fashion. There are other ways to pan-fry a steak, leave it flavorful, and medium-rare to medium-well done.

Things You'll Need

A fork and a knife.
A healthy appetite can be added for extra enjoyment.

YT told me my a/c was suspended due to "repeated offence". I was at a lost for words. Fkkk! what!? what did i do?! All my past videos are gone now! Deleted permanently! Hai... what can i do to make it right again?

話說某日小弟痾屎帶血。
本來都無乜野，又唔痛唔剩。
但係話俾阿護士姐姐聽之後呢，
佢就話不如陪我睇下醫生好D。

因為大便有血（Blood in Stool) 可大可小。
有好多嚴重疾病嘅先兆都係大便有血。
但係都可能只係痔瘡或者本人熱氣。

經過那位年輕貌美嘅男醫生使出失傳已久嘅
菊門獨龍轉（即係佢地醫護界所謂嘅PR）之後，
醫生並無發現任何異樣。
但由于醫生手指之長度與人類大腸相差什遠，
所以以防萬一，醫生提議去照一次內窺鏡。（俗稱scope。）
此亦為本人所願，要驗查就查清楚D好。

原先預約好係7月30號。
但係因為小弟睇醫生時係去醫院診所。算為A-Class。
收費好貴。照一次要成百零蚊波紙。

有見及此，我地決定去搵C-Class嘅服務，因為可以用自己嘅公積金扣除大部分收費。
收費只係幾十蚊。
但係待遇就好唔同。個appointment變左去十月尾。
嘩有無攪錯。當然唔制。
好在護士姐姐喺醫院識人幫到我改到appointment。
係正8月15。吹脹又會咁Q。

Shirlaine aka Kiyomi invited us to her ROM ceremony. She's Mrs. Gan now. Or Auntie Gan. (Heh Heh. Hell if she sees this...)

A nice sunny sunday. About 40ppl. Singapore Arts Meseum level 2.

Main Character: Mr.Darren Gan and Mrs. Shirlaine Gan

Who happily said thier vows and signed their love on this lovely day.

Everyone present wore happy faces and gave their best wishes to the 2.

Above is just imagined, we couldn't get there on time (Lui2 have to work.) for the ceremony but we made it for the reception and got to see some old frens from SFC - the now deserted Samsung "Fun" Club. (Yeah, last time when we're all still using samsung phones and had 'points' to download stuff from there was FUN...)

But we all had fun chatting at the Dome cafe where their helpful staff keeps refilling our cups with tasty chilly prune juice or something sour sweet which is great!
Buffet was great too, love the 'fish in cheesy white sauce' but couldn't eat more since saturday's sinful day of eating at Ajisan and their sister shop Ajitei...

Gerrald was the cameraman for the day who hardly had the chance to eat. Found out tat he is an experienced freelancer and a hobbyist.

After the recep we had some outdoor fun, time for the bride to throw the flowers to the ladies!

But nobody wants it! (In the end PPM - PeiMin caught the pettal lah. So it belongs to her Muahaha.) But she still didn't want to keep the lovely flower (Boo Hoo...) But the whole thing was kinda funny lah...

After that went to Tiong Bahru Plaza to watch Transformer. Wa lao eh, lagi good show man. Even Lui2 liked these kinda boyish movie and was quite excited at times during the movie. Got free gift some more.

It was those push-out plastic cards with little pieces that i can build the transformer robot and play a card game. It came with instructions to teach you how to play and try to get you addicted so you will go buy more of that stuff and waste your money. (Ah what am i saying)
Used to play magic cards. I know. Guilty about those money spent used to buy cards which worths nothing now except bring back memories.

Recent addiction is World of Warcraft.
I think i need professional help.
I've been playing this game since a couple months ago.
Dom intro-ed me to this game.
I tried the free 1 week trial, and got seriously hooked.

Every month is about S$23, and i get unlimited play time.
I keep leveling up, and made new frens in the game from Taiwan.
My ID is Blacksheepp, and playing on the Taiwan server 雷角.
My character is a Human Warlock （人類術士）.
Currently at Level 60.

Everyday i come home, i will do 3 things in sequence:
1. Turn ON my pc.
2. Shower and get changed.
3. Play that game till i can't take it anymore. Sleeping at 2-3am everyday.

I have been neglecting Lui2, my frens, exercise and other things that i do.
It's consuming my life.
I don't even go out now. Only rarely i got appointments then i'll go out.
Weekends is standard. Staying in the World of Warcraft. Whole day.
Lui2 would complain, and I'll coax her for a while, then continue playing.

I am sleepy during the day and keep yawning, thinking of the things i would do in the game.
Sometimes when i really can't keep my eyes open returning home from work,
I'll sleep for a few hours before playing. But this just means i'll play until very early in the morning. Just a few hours before i have to go to work. This is just worse.

Due to the lack of sleep or O2 in my brain,
my intelligence level is dropping sharply. Feeling stupid and slow in thinking.
And FORGETFUL. Like an old man.

My addiction to video games and pc games started since young.
I was playing "Pong" and "Pacman" on the Atari System.
My father bought this game system home as a reward to my exam results or Christmas present.

Why do I have this addiction???

Long Time Didn't Post

It's been a while i wrote to you Astor.
Ever since i graduated, things have slowed down.
I can finally go home after work and play pc games till there's no tml.
But i also got fat while sitting in e office everyday since suddenly i dun have to go to shipyard as often as before. I only get to go when they really really dun have manpower.
Well, i dunno if it's a good thing or a bad thing actually.

But getting fat around the waist is annoying. Makes me fail my ippt(fitness test).
So this month, i have to attend training after work and on Saturday for training.
Since i failed my 2.4km running, my trainings are focused on running.
I can't really see the difference yet except being more tired and muscle aches. But i'm feeling hopeful. This wednesday i'm taking the test again, if i passed, i don't have to attend "Phase 2" of the training.

"Phase 2" requires me to attend training 3 days a week.
But on the other hand, i dunno if this training is really enough, in the total of 8 training days, the first day being the briefing day, no exercise at all. And the last day is the test day itself, so again it's not considered as training. Meaning wat's left is only 6 training sessions. Although each session i really put in effort and exercised according to the trainers' instructions, i somehow dun think it's enough considering the extra weight i have put on recently. Compared to when i first came out from army, i put on about 10KGs.

Time will tell.

And Dom intro-ed me to play World of Warcraft and i'm totally addicted. At first when it came out, i didn't pay much attention since i thought it's expensive to play such kind of game when a player have to pay for credits which translates to game minutes.

I'm totally crazy about it. Even went on to buy monthly game credits to continue playing after the free period is over. Haha...

She's working for Cathay now.
LoLam stayed overnight for job and we had supper at Chjimes.
I haven even been there to eat before. turned out the snacks are not bad. The service too.

I've graduated now.
But i still dun feel that i am "moving on to the next phase".
Maybe becos the ending was messed up by all the activities.

Perhaps i'll feel it when i start realizing that i can go home everyday after work and dun have to attend classes.

But soon, i have my RT this month.
twice a week i have to go exercise.
Actually, that's not too bad. i had wanted to loose some weight after all.
I'm a few kg over-weight, according to a helth check months ago.

Went out to watch fireworks and the people mountain people sea. left straight away the moment it ends. was packed sardines with hordes of crowd on the bridge off esplanade and fullerton.
My camera is a Pentax S3 3.2MP camera, it can only take 30second video clips. so there are about 12 clips of the fireworks and the idiots shouting all around us.

Can't really recall anything special tat happened this yr except the very recent Shaun's passing away.

Anyway, got news that his funeral will be held at 宝福山 on January 15th next year.

Except for that, every other day is regular. Just looking forward to the next day and the
next. Weekdays and weekends... Crest and Trough...

Preparing... Trying to survive another day. Having 3 weeks break from school. Getting slacker and used to going out or home after work. But 3 weeks later after the break is another 3 weeks of school before exam... During these 3 weeks i got presentation, role play, lab sheets, assignment, mini-project to handle... and also revision. Loosing touch with things in school now. They say the last leg of the race is the toughest. I know now.

This morning after e alarm woke me i went back to sleep. Some how, i dream of shaun's death was not real after all. And for unknown reasons i was donating blood. What does that mean?

Lui2 Birthday @ Fish & Co.

22nd December
Meet up with Lui2 and nurse gang at "Velocity" above Novena MRT for dinner. Candyce, Carolyn n gang wants to celebrate her birthday and exchange presents. Fish & Co. standard is as always, not that good and not that bad either. But their crew got all e other patrons' attention and sang her a birthday song. Took polaroids for us, and give Lui2 a present! It's a coin pouch that looks like a yellow fish with Fish & Co. written on it. Too bad they didn't give her crayons and a doodle pad.
It was a happy night. But Lui2 have to work night shift till 24th!

23rd-24th December
"Heh-ed" at home did nothing on 23rd till lui2 comes home, den went dinner with her sorta celebrate on her actual day. 24th went to JB with Ron, Kathy & Ah Huat. Huat is driving in in his new Altis. It's another day of shopping and walking. Went to Holiday Inn to buy cds, and city square to look at clothes. Came back out just in time to have dinner with Lui2 before she goes to work. Ron met me at Novena, den went down to orchard. Saw the peepur sea peepur mountain. turned back immediately after Kel eh and Jolin joined us. Was sweating already looking at the crowd. So we just loitered around Taka Taxi Stand and took some pictures.

Then we went prawning at marina south. But e place is very packed. We had our count down there. In the end caught only a few small shrimps. No mood.

25th went out with Ron & Kathy to watch movie at Century Square. Night at Museum is funny. Worth a watch.

Tonight is Shaun's "7 days return of soul night". But usually i sleep without dreams. Nothing is felt thru the night. I even told Lui2 not to be scared if anything were to happen. Heh. I guess Shaun has too many frens to visit, would take some time to reach my turn. Will continue to watch his blog space...Merry Christmas Shaun!

Good Bye Shaun... Good Bye

I tend to express myself better in english so...

With much much pain, i have to announce:

For those of you who wasn't around/didn't know,

Shaun left us to the other world on 18th December 2006,
5PM at Queen Mary's Hospital in HK.

I was really glad i made it on time to the hospital, going to Shaun straight after i got off e plane.

Shaun went away peacefully with all his relatives and close frens beside him. I'm sure anyone would have cried too if they were here with us. The emotion just exploded and spread through everybody when shaun's granny hugged him n started sobbing and crying. Followed by his other relatives, including his mom, dad, uncles n their wifes, etc. Everyone was saying our last words to Shaun...

We were with Shaun for quite a while before everybody was to exit the room and wait outside for a while. It was lunch time, when the nurses were changing shifts and doctors have to look at Shaun some more.

Shaun's family have made a painful, yet humane decision to let Shaun go peacefully with all of us beside him, after consulting the doctors. They said Shaun wouldn't last another day, and would probably pass away, all by himself in e middle of the night. So they decided to remove the life support machines.

When we returned, they've already taken away the drugs, liquid food, etc around 3PM. Just the breathing support machine is still attached. The machine pumped steadily as Shaun is unable to breath by himself anymore. Shaun's mom also got him changed in to his comfy pajamas before we were let in again. Everyone stood around his bed while his grandparents sat next to him, including his family, pri sch SIS frens (Me, Dom and my sis, although she wasn't from SIS.), Sec sch frens, Auzzie frens tat flew in to see him just like me, and his other close frens too. We prepared to spend our last time with him.

His dad brought his japanese buddhism frens along n they kept chanting and praying for shaun all the way through. The tough guy still kept going strong even when the nurse came in and stopped giving him 100% oxygen and let him breath normal air like e rest of us.

Until the final moment, everyone talked to him, telling him not to be scared. We'll always be with him, and he'll always be remembered and missed. This lasted for about an hour plus while we watched his stats slowly drop to zero. Everyone was crying. We held on to Shaun for the last time. Calling his name repeatedly, hoping he'll gain a little consciousness to at least open his eyes and look at us.

He seemed to have a little bit of reaction near the end, when the machines already showed zero or very very little activity. when we all talked to him at the same time, his head jerked a bit and his arm was moving some. But it could also be because of the lack of oxygen and his body is reacting, trying to get air. Anyway, he went away peacefully and lived a meaningful life, having many many great frens, his cats and loving relatives.

Shaun would be a great man if not for his illness. I'm sure of that. I told him we could be brothers the next life, and he'll be respected and missed when we're around.

The only bit of disappointment was that he din manage to wake up after all, even for a while in the end. We could have helped him finish his wishes. But i think he knows. He'll know.

Hai...this is the saddest day of my life so far, seeing a close fren come to the end of his life, with him passing away right before me. It's so painful to see Shaun go.

Although these few yrs we were physically miles apart after he went to study in Auzzie and resided in HK, and i was holed up in Siangapore and all, we were buddies again whenever i visits him in HK every yr. The last time i saw him at his home in October, we were still playing video games together, just like old times when we were kids and i often visited his home in kennedy town to play magic cards and talk about games all e time. And Dom too, although he seldom joined us, he has always lived in Kennedy town. That's why i used to travel across the island just to meet up with them. This went on even after we graduated and went to different sec sch.

We used to call ourselves ASD, Astor Shaun Dom, like the keys on the keyboard, we'll always be best frens. It follows that i'm the oldest, then shaun, then dom. We're much like the famous 3 sworn-brothers in romance of the 3 kingdoms, 刘备，关羽，张飞. Since young, the 2 of them were very tall and big and i'm quite tiny. I wonder why the 3 of us could come together and stayed as frens for 15 over years, but we just were. While others would have lost contact long ago. Maybe becos our primary sch classes were so small compared to the others, we had only about 20 ppl in one class back then. So the whole class was close and bonded well. It was a pity the others are tied down by their jobs or studies and couldn't come see him.

He was also showing me his favourite video game the Nintendo Wii, that he would buy the moment it ships to HK. We were sharing some nintendo DS games he kept in his computer. Shaun's mom made lunch, and gave me a share. Shaun's mom cooks well.

All that, is gone now. Locked in my memory forever. I'll always cherish these sweet memories. It's weird how we'll only think of these things only when the person is not here with us anymore.

I had dinner with my family and frens after i left the hospital, since there was nothing left for us to do and everybody left. Shaun's family stayed to settle documents and stuff.

I have to thank Sarah, a lot, since she helped me secure a ticket back to sg so that i can catch up on my work, this time being the holiday season and all the tickets are fully booked all the way thru christmas and new year. Thank You Sarah angel.

I'll end this sad post here. I'm sobbing again.

Shaun, dun worry about us, we'll live a happy and meaningful life just like you did. You'll seriously be missed by all of us! Bye Bye!~~~

sick last week. Took mc-ed for 2 days. broke my record. From the dust when moving house.

headache, body pain, running n blocked nose, slight fever, tired, coughing...
after 1 day medicine n sleep, not recovered. had to go back next morning for another day mc.

then passed it to lui2, now her turn to get mc. but for 1 day only.

and we passed it on to each other... until now, both of us are coughing like mad.
and the runny nose too.

think by next week we'll recover ba. all my meds are finished.

King Wai flew back to hk to see his gf, only to find that she has loved another guy and broke off with him. How sad. Hai... he's going on holiday to china to 'walk away for a while.'

shaun is still not awake. He's been sleeping for 13days now. he's sleeping due to the heavy dosage of medicine given to him. was it given everyday? Which makes me want to fly over to see him. But 1 week before christmas, all flights are either fully booked or cost a big bomb. So decided to just sit and wait like all e other frens n relatives, waiting for further news from our fren fat boy hang. ah ma & ah ka went to see him, he's full of tubes n breathing heavily.

Shaun. time to wake up man... you're making us worry. And your Wii is finally here! Let's go play!

Viewed a flat with Linda and Xiao Chen today.
Found our new flat and signed contracts straight after.
This is a gem among the others we've seen.
It's a private flat near MDIS.
We were surprised by the decor and e look of e place at first, thinking did we hear the price wrongly or wat? Such a good place?!
Then when we viewed the rooms, the 2 halls, the kitchen, the backyard, we instantly liked it even more and decided to take it. During the contract signing, there were quite a many callers calling up our agent about this flat, she just have to tell them we're signing the contracts now and have to show them other flats.
I have not lived in a house with a fish pond before!!

I went, i tried, i failed. This happened last yr, and it happened this year again. I admit i wasn't living a healthy lifestyle, and i haven't been exercising. It's ALL my fault. I tried my best to beat the clock and pushed myself harder towards the end. Told myself i would take the rest of the day off to rest but i have to beat this! Didn't know the results straight away but thought i would fail (pessimist).

My lower legs were swollen like 1.5 times that night. I can't walk properly and look like a cripple for a few days. It was the pain, i couldn't straighten my legs cos the muscles would cramp and there is intense pain. I go to work still but there is no outdoor job for me recently, i just do drawings. Everytime i stand up to stretch or get something my face would curl up in pain. Until i used deep heat cream then it got better.

Checked my results today and finally it's out: FAILED! 2.4km run - 13.25mins

Sure fail the physical test, but have to go anyway since it's a SAF100 callup. It's dam early too, 0730 at Changai Air Base! From here it's like 1.5 hrs! No shitting! Afternoon back to work, that night i still have class! It's going to be a long day.

When this place is being built, i looked at the site and thought: What kinda great place can this be? It's so small! Duh! But when i finally get to visit it today after so many years, i was actually quite satisfied with it.

Yes, it's wild wild wet (颠颠湿).
Main Features:

1) Water Playground
Pipe dream. All sorts of pipes criss cross each other spraying water everywhere with human controlled triggers, devices to activate so that a nozzle here and there start spraying powerful jets at an unsuspecting passer-by. Highlight: Big yakult Tank filled with chilling water unloads it contents every so often on to a roof. Folks gather under it as a bell warns of the unloading moment. You won't miss this one. It's right near the entrance.

2) Uklah Lah (Wet Slides)
Folks just keep queuing for this one. We went 3 times. Two levels of 3 different slides. Lower level lets u slide down 2 tunnels, one covered and the other opened. Quite the standard wet slide. The better one is at the top. Where 3-6 ppl sits in a round rubber poontang to slide down the tunnel. Near the end, there's a camera to capture your 'moment'...which they sell it to you at $7.90 each.

3) Artificial Waves
Artificial beach with no sand and medium waves keeps hitting the shore for 15mins. Then it stops, just to come at ya again after a little rest. Great fun hitting the waves lying on a rubber ring. Played once at the deep end where the wave is highest. Quite ok. But get the sea-sick feeling after that.

4) Long Long Floating Logs River
Relaxing ride on a rubber ring, floating along a long river around the compound. Great sight-seeing. Playful folks can splash water or shoot the rubber rings at each other's heads etc. when the lifeguard isn't looking. Otherwise it's a chance to lie down and float around to take a nap. Be warned though, one part of the river ride has 4 water pistols mounted at the side. Strangers walking past can (and will) shoot at anyone that floats by.

5) Samsung Deep V slide
Sponsored by Samsung, this is the most exciting ride of all. 2 players sit themselves in a rubber raft facing each other and start from one end of the deep V. Green light is given when the previous players have left the scene. The gal at the station gives the raft a shove, and there u go in to the deep V. Shiok. Scream as loud as you can like a sissy. Really enjoyed this one. But as usual, queue for 10mins, play for 1min. For this one even faster, there're only 2 rafts altogether in the game, and players gotta carry the raft up 4 storeys to reach the launching platform.

Ron got free tics from his spf benefits, he & his gal kathy, Jolin & me went. We spent 3.5hrs in there. Came out satisfied and totally enjoyed ourselves. Released some stress as well since long long ago we had such fun. Too bad Lui2 on afternoon shift couldn't make it. O'wise much more fun for me. Haha. Well, upload the pics and clip taken from Kathy's phone when they send it over.

Just didn't want to write about anything in particular but the most magnificent sceneries my eyes have ever seen during the last day of the trip, when our very generous host drove us up to Banff for a day tour.

This is my first time to see real snow, not artificial ones we got in singapore "Snow City". That, is just a meat freezer with an ice slope in it.

But here in Banff, on both sides of the road, the land stretches to the horizon ending with the rockies, sprinkled with icing sugar. There's Gozilla's sugar rolls too on certain farms...

Our little convoy went in to Banff National Park, after stopping along the highway for some mind-blowing view of the mountains. We also stopped at Lake Louise, where the group took photos together, and we got some of the best pictures taken here as well.

The mirror image of the snow-tipped mountains on the calm lake surface... (Except some kayakers were poking around) It's such a scene that makes anyone feel calm and at peace.

Gotta find somewhere to store photos. maybe yahoo. it's just too slow to upload pics in blogger sometimes...

There's an indian trading post where they sell t-shirts n keychains tat kinda stuff. they kept this "mythical creature" the merman in a showcase...

I'll have to keep it short. It's not exactly a holiday trip anyway. But i learned a lot about this seemingly new product (to me) during this trip, and maybe in future it'll be helpful to me. Dunno when is the next time i'm going to Canada???

Now Now... I should be sleepin cos my flight is 7hrs away, and got to catch the 4am company transport (Which is my very kind boss and his wife too.) to the airport.

Flying with 3 of my colleagues. Reach HK around 10 in the morning flying with UA, just in time for Yum Cha.

By that time should be ready for the long flight to Vancouver. Then another transit to Calgary, where we'll take a short (4 days) course kindly sponsored by our supplier BW. Yahoo!

Wanna record my feelings right now... It's like yeah, anticipation (Anxiety actually) mixed with upset. For the obvious reason, this is my first time taking such a long flight n travelling to the west angmo country, thus the anxiety. And i miss my Lui2, have to leave her here by herself at home. Really hope she can take care of herself and nothing bad happens while i was away.

Will maybe leave some messages for the few frens i have while in the car later... Now waiting for one of my colleagues to pop over to my place. He lives in JB, and is better to stay the night at my place. Easy for the pickup later.

And...yeah. I'll get some supplies and magazines at HK airport first thing we land. Haha. Long journey needs them. My camera is fully charged and ready to shoot. I've even got extra memory card, just in case. Kiasu singaporean at work again!

Nabeh, i'm a person that remembers n keeps thinking about something i hate. Or things that i wished it should have happened "My Way"...
The memory just keeps replaying in my head whatever i do.

What happened was a small matter.

I was on site today at strategic fucking marine yard job 145. We're troubleshootin that radio interference problem again. Electricians said they think they have done the fuckin radio wires very near to our sensors again.

So some ang-mo owner rep was there poking around askin "wat's this wire?" "why's tat wire here?" and finally found out which damn wire is for the radio.

I regretted saying something like "Told u so..." to the electrician. Then ang-mo tried to be sarcastic. "Oh, thank you so very much. Really appreciated it." then gave me a look.

I didn't say a thing. But i got wat he meant. But brain was too slow for that. I was starting to get pissed off. So i said "Well if that's the wire, you've to change it then." to the electrician. Owner rep immediately corrected me. "WE have to change it."

Yeah knn, so WE have to fuckin change it. But not me definitely! So i said you, meaning the fucking clowns from the fucking-strategic-lousy-ships-marine would do it.What's wrong with that?

In the end i didn't say anything to him lah. Just doing my own replay of different senarios of what i should have said.

Like "Oh, you're the most welcomed man on earth right now!" "Thank you oh so very fucking much!" "I can take some sarcasm once in a while...Thanks!"

I'm writing this down to make myself forget about it and hope that tml morning i'd have forgotten it. Full Stop. It's a small thing. Let it pass...

Strangers 陌生人

Its just been a week that i was absent at class. But this week it all feels a bit different. Felt like a stranger in class. Apart from the pressure i got with the project deadlines, that exam is round the corner and i missed a whole week of class, i couldn't catch up with the rest now. Feel bad about the 2 projects most.

Seeing other groups presenting their nice projects and making sighs of relief, talking about it like the past already makes me sick. And nobody is really keen to help us. Like they didn't care anymore. Oh, yeah, why should they? After we walk outta this classroom, we all turn back to strangers. I ain't their age group, i am just a baby-faced kid in their eyes. What can i say?

Its been busy since last month, everyday spent at the yard is wearing me down. I was always tired. There are just too many projects for e company to handle! We're short of men!

Then my project partner is busy too, having just joined his family business as a sales coordinator or some shit. He's in charge of doing report, while i do up the project. Dunno when we can finish. Tml, no. In fact, later today, i'm gonna go get us the parts we need to do the project. We got 3 days before present. And others have bought their parts there.

There is still hope. Just if nothing screws up at the last minute + there ain't much troubleshooting to do, we can sail pass this one.

Wonder how it is gonna be after i graduate next yr. Will it be even more slack since i dun havta torture myself dragging my body down to class + forcing my brain to stay turned ON anymore?
But will still look forward to that day when it comes.

Just watched "Click" the movie with Adam Sandler. Very insipiring and touching movie. I wanna own it!

2 more weeks to Xam, and then holiday. Canada trip. HK trip. Life is so busy.

And i still haven gotten to the act of clearing the pics from my cam to upload.

...Don't want to go back to school at all. Just the thought of finishing one big test week and still have like 5 items to clear before exam, plus the additional chapters that have yet to be taught and learned, is depressing. I'm smoldering from the burnout since ITE already. Not catching up with what some better classmates of mine are doing, can't understand crap they said cos i didn't read up on things. All i frigging do is playing computer games and going online. PLAY PLAY PLAY PLAY PLAY. I feel like shit.

Shanghai Babe:Day04

Shang hai : Last day. My flight tak off tonight before midnight. I'll be arriving SG in le early mornings. Since i finished my work early, i got e time to walk ard Shanghai town today. Started e journey with Mr. Bao early this morning, arrived e city around noon. But e 3hrs ride was worthed it. Got here early, just the right time for lunch. I jio-ed Mr.Bao for lunch, he brought me to his fren from the same city - 南通市. The 老板娘 owned a small restaurant here. I was curious what "毛血旺" is on the menu. So there it is:

Oh yeeeeeah, this pot of baby is actually 'coagulated pork blood' cooked with vegetables and chinese herbs. Said to be highly nutricious. I haven't eaten 'blood jelly' since the last time i was in HK. So i'm quite used to e taste, actually quite tasteless. The good ones are prepared such that when u use the chop sticks to lift it, it doesn't break in to pieces. Just like tofu. We also had:

麻婆豆腐, 糖醋鱼肉, and the best was 铁板牛肉. 棒! 棒! 棒! Soon after we're both filled to the brim. Darn it had not been the rice we ate, we could have finished every bit of the food. After e meal i thanked Mr.Bao and we headed separate ways. Went out to 黄浦江 - 外滩 dragging my luggage. It looks like a tourist region, lots of '1 Minute photo stands', food stalls, Ppl selling little toys, Teens giving out little 'cards' advertising "those kinda" service to single travellers, they even had a cafe and restaurant around. Things that i saw:

Shanghai Babe:Day01

Suddenly there was a golden chance for me to go on biz trip to Shanghai, a place that i've never went before but wanted to go. So there i was! Woo Hoo!

The job i was assigned was finished on the 3rd day. It was in a city called 'Nan Tong'. It took me a 5hrs flight, China Eastern was quite ok, stable and comfortable. Then a 4hrs ride on a car sent by the ship company to fetch me. Driver's name is Mr. Bao. Bao Ching Tian the Bao.

Immediately the vastness of China struck me. This is the southern part of Shanghai city. There're many many (And i really mean many.) houses like these where ppl lived in, scattered among fields and farms along the way to the hotel in another city. This area should be in 'Pu Tong'. That is one of those gate ways. Something like ERP. Pay to use the ultra fast highway. Where Mr.Bao and othe drivers can speed until no sky no earth.

So were these, can see them aplenty everywhere. Over head power lines. Dangerous stuff. (I feel.)

Our car took a ride on these babies to cross 'Chang Jiang' to get to 'Jiang Su Province'. Anyway, hotel was great, bath tub hot water aircon double bed room service every morning. One thing they're over doing is they replaced ALL used items every morning like the hand soap, shampoo, shower gel, slippers, comb, tooth brush! But this is what good room service is about. New Room every morning! First day was uneventful except tired from all the flying and riding in car. Sleep cannot sleep, staying awake is hard.

Tioman Island:Day02

Day 02
Weather is still good despite a slight downpour last night, but all is good to go. Woke up at 7+, took first meal at resort. Bread,butter,strange jam,coffee & tea. The bum boat left e jetty on time. We went to "feed the fishes" first. We need to rent snorkling gear: Vest & Goggles. I've never tasted sea water that salty since a long time. But the water was clear enough to see all e way to the bottom. Fishes were aplenty. Mostly were the striped blue and yellow parrot fish-like fish. There're one or two rainbow colored ones spotted near the bottom, seemingly waiting for hopelessly sinking bread. But they're not lazy, sometimes they pop to the surface to grab a bite of my bread, which surprised me.

But i've got to carry that special someone during the feeding...

Then there were the corals. We left the fish feeding ground, and anchored near a mini island, or rather it's just a round piece of rock. The corals were growing all around the rock. They were live corals and very colorful. I wanted to dive to the bottom to watch a purple color coral tat looks like a bundle of swaying grass, but it was quite dangerous. haha.

Spotted schools of the same fish we fed just now near this rock too. So some of us (Ho) fed the whole box of lunch that nobody wanted to them. Must have fed them so well that they'll leave the algae and seaweed(?) alone for a long time.

There was a small pool formed by clear spring water from a waterfall in the mountains, the water was freezing! Bet monkeys will be playing in there on any hot day. These were the ones we caught playing right now.

By the way, do they look like couples?

Finally went back near dinner time when the sky darkens...
I'd like to come to tioman again, but not this resort.

Tioman Island:Day 01

Due to the friggin crowd at customs, we arrived in City Sq. 1 Hr. late. So bo bian have to rush like frick. Luckily Ah Ho is driving. He even Da Bao-ed Wanton mee for us to eat on his car.

His Opel is quite comfy, so we tried to watch Underworld with his portable DVD at the back. But the road down there so bumpy and many turns. Plus we rushing for time, always over take slow cars, very difficult to watch DVD. Got dizzy very fast. We stopped at a coffee stall to take a break, toilet, etc.

The boat-ticket-man was waiting for us in Mersing. This place looks like a small town with everything in it. Looks very interesting. But didn't have time for it. We already delayed our speed boat for 2hrs. We got on the boat once it's ready and sailed towards Tioman. There're many Ang-Mos onboard too. They didn't alight together with us on Genting beach.

Have to praise Lui2 for not puking after the boat ride. She's prone to sea/car sickness she said.

There's no activity for us when we reached. The resort ppl are the ones that organize things for us to do while we're on the island actually. So not to waste time, we went out to the beach. The weather was good. Very sunny and breezy. Beach was clean, we went picking shells and dead corals. Took these at the tiny jetty made out of wood. There's a horde of ikan bilis under it!!!

After a few hours, we headed back to the resort. It's kinda like a small village. Each unit/house has only one room and a toilet. Guess other resorts are similar. There's a bed, a small table, and a mirror. There's no hot water, but they have aircon in each unit! Tat's a small wonder. Sharon, Ah Ho's fren, had been sleeping and watching DVD all these while, woke up and joined us for dinner. It was simple dishes like fried omllet, fish, vege and rice. But we ate quite a lot anyway cos we were hungry.

We bought snacks, for the long night is boring, we watched DVD and played cards. Next time should go to Sarang beach, where all e Ang Mos are, and there's more night life there.
Day 2 is more interesting.

Tioman Island:The Queue

Went to Tioman Island. Ah Ho jioed me. And just so happens Steph is having day off after night shift. So go loh. 4 of us. Ah Ho and his female fren came to pick us at Johor. Ah Ho is the driver.

Wah but tat day is PH. The bus to woodlands check point opens the door for ppl to exit when it hits the jam about a km away.

So we walked. Lui2 and i walked with other ppl as we look at the unmoving line of vehicles. I can imagine the bus drivers or cargo drivers cursing in their vehicles.
"Chow Bye Bye... KNN jam until like that still need to work. Sian Ah!! KNN..."

We took 1.5 Hrs to get thru the custom. Lui2 breezed thru with her foreigner passport as usual, while i squeezed tuna-ed with e other ppl going to malaysia truly asia for their long week end holiday.

Then there is this short plump woman in the queue beside me with her guy fren. As the bunch of ppl squeezed forward, the crowd in front of me was blocked by a pillar.

So those in my queue had to queue around that pillar, forcing us to push towards the plump woman's queue. It was a mess when everyone was just pushing their way forward while trying to maintain their own queue so ppl beside them won't cut-in in front of them.

I was then standing off to the plump woman's side of the queue. It's very hot there, nobody wanted to stay there any longer than necessary. And looking behind, the queue is getting longer by the minute.

That woman saw that i was pushing towards her direction. So she pushed back with her bag to defend her territory and told her fren in mandarin:

"Dont' let him cut queue, he's standing next to u. China man."

She's thinking that i am really from China who only understands China Mandarin, and doesn't understand local mandarin. Either that, or she's trying to be sarcastic. Her fren glanced at me with unfrenly eyes, and turned away. I kept quiet as usual in situations like these.

Inside i was always thinking about something that i should have done, but didn't. I feel like telling her, so wat even if i'm from China? Is she any more capable than ppl in China? Is she any richer than ppl in China? Is she even aware that she's being a racist when the irony is that she's a Chinese too?

I wanted to tell her don't think Singaporean very high class just becos she can only see China ppl come over to our country to work as construction workers getting a lowly wage. (Compared to hers lah.) There is a bigger world out there where more successful China ppl earn tons of money and setting up huge corporations.

So in the end, when she noticed that the queue she's at is going very slowly, and her other fren is in front at another queue, she hollered to her fren to let her join them. After that she happily 'excuse-me excuse-me' her way thru and CUT to the other side.

So only she can cut queue lah?

I went thru finally. Not very much later than her, anyway.

Haven been running and feel that my stamina improve a tiny bit. Well at least i ran a few klicks and burned some fats. Still a lot more to burn. Singapore is a fattening place. I never had any of those before. Tummy i mean. Or was it called a paunch? But it feels really good when i went jogging along the canal. It's easy to set targets. Just start from the tip of the running track to the Traffic Light junction. Then back. It's like...3klicks? Maybe a bit more. Thigh muscles burned. Blisters ached. Become waterman. It's great.
...Oh, i just watched another shit movie on DVD. A Sound of Thunder. Shit.Lucky it was just from Good O' Malaysia. Heh Heh.

Sick

I'm sick. Having slight throbing headache since morning. Tired+painful eyes. Didn't think much of it. Went to work, have to work in yard alone today. Everyone is out stationed. Collect goods at Tyco till 11+, no point getting to yard straight away, they're closed till 1. Had lunch nearby, bought panadol cold relief for running nose. It's been running for a few days now. Keep sneezing for no reason. Who is tat thinking of me so hard. Ease up pls. Had wanton mee + carrot juice for lunch. The mee is so damn spicy. Took 2 caps after lunch, den headed for yard. Headache got worse on the way. Want to vomit, cold sweat, extremely tired, woozy, eye lids want to close. Really bad feeling. Feel like calling in sick. But i reach the yard already. Still close, took a nap outside, hope i get better. Woke up. Headache not so bad now. But still sick. Want to vomit. Keep spitting. Went onboard afterall. Environment still not so bad. Didn't climb around too much. My lower back still hurt. Since last friday already. What's wrong down there? Maybe carrying those manifolds. Made it through the day. Came home and sleep for a few hours. Feel so great can sleep. But wake up still a bit woozy. Headache mostly gone. But still hurts a bit when moving around. See tml wake up feel better or not. If not take MC liao. Feel a bit like i'm killing myself by not calling in sick and head back to office when i had the chance. Nearly closed my eyes on the highway!

Created by a very clever and special boy, and gaining reputation very rapidly, it's THE WICKED! It's an online puzzle game which requires logical thinking, or a lot of luck. Got to know it from tml.sg and have since stuck to it. Playing through the levels is fun to say the least, but they're tough too. Many players are racing to get to the top, where only e first 5 players to complete all the 40 levels of the game are allowed to place their names in the hall of fame. But fear not for all of us "normal people", we still get the reward of playing the game even we dun get to the hall of fame --- the fun of cracking the levels... Reading the forum alone can get tons of fun too. This is a locally made game by a JC student. Gonna try! Even people from overseas can take up the challenge, as the levels do not depend on knowledge of singapore. So... go try it people! The Wicked

School is starting next week i guess. shoule be around 3-4th April. But for no apparent reason, i don't feel too tired compared to the last time. Perhaps i didn't play/work as hard, it's the quiet period for work and there isn't much to play and spend effort on. So there, like magic, the sun rise and fall, we're in to our 5th year. Though i haven spent as much time as some of my peers in school, i'm getting tired of school. There's nothing exciting to make me carry on. We're just attending class so we can take exams and get the diploma and move on to degree. Might as well just skip everything and let us have the paper. But then ofcos i can't say that all of us are here just to get the diploma la. Hai... finally got a B this sem. No more 4 pointer already. now it's 3.977. Am i going down hill???

Haven been running since the last time i took IPPT. 2 months. But didn't know why i could run so long yesterday after work. I think i ran for like 3klics+. I ran without my specs on. Was sweating like a pig. For a long while i sat there tending to my 2 new blisters, i didn't wear socks. It worked for the previous version of SAF running shoes. No abrasion. This brooks one just sucks. Anyway, now i have some exercise, i can see slightly e benefits of exercising. It's good!

To me, Lui2 is like a cartoon character. Funny, cute, lovely, firendly, cuddly, like to make fun, cutey-fun actions & little jokes that can always make a big kid like me laugh my guts out splurting. On e other hand she can be fierce and meanacing when she's not in the mood. I'll gana scold too. Haha. Think e best cartoon character to represent her is one of them in happy tree friends. (Gotta Move Again)

Enter the bad mood period again. Under a lot of stress. It seems that good things in my life never lasts. New challenge keep throwing at me. Just as we got used to living in here only, hav to move out again. Landlord in financial problems n has to sell his flat. The bad news came in e form of a hand-written note on e table. We came home happily from Sentosa last sunday to receive this kinda news. Well at first we felt bad for him, heard his dad has cancer some time ago. Guess that's for his operation/treatment fees. Cancer patients need a lot of care and thus, a lot of money to treat. But who is there to pity us. We quickly spread e news. We have until May or a month after, if we get lucky. The thing is, re-location for some ppl is very easy since they can just leave at the drop of a hat. But for me, all e furnitures i'm using now are mostly from my family's flat. I've been lugging these "family treasures" along with other barang-barangs around singapore since i first relocated. Ofcos, i can't squeeze a 4-rm flat's stuff in to that 1-rm flat when i first moved. My auntie got most of my bulky furniture. Other things got thrown away. After re-locating 2 times, now most of the things we have are those that we need, or too good to throw away. Now to add shit to misery, we need to find a similar location/living condition/price. We got a steal-away price for this current room, so we feel more pain when we look at e market rate. And then i also need movers. The first time round my good frens Ron,Kel eh,Ah seng, even Jolin helped me a lot. I can't bring myself to trouble them again. The second time i used movers. Cost us 200+. (Pain) Think there's no escape this time. Then add in e agent fee, the deposit, my river will be quite dry these few months again. There was a time when my river ran totally dry. (Heh Heh)... Although e time is still quite early, we have a couple of months. But after all e mess for the first quarter, I'm quite tired. This path i took is draining me. I feel weak.

Wonder what is the response of people who has an account with Samsung Fun Club these days. They don't let members use their points to exchange for games and ring tones anymore since 27th January this year. I got like 500 pts loh. Wat to do now? They still show up when i loh in to it once a month, staring at me and at e same time reminding me its uselessness. Quite toolan about it. Hai... Nevermind la. I don't download things from there much now since i switched to N-Gage. I spent more money buying Game Collection CDs instead. Games on N-Gage are much much more fun anyway.

Yesterday stayed at home totally Nua-ing with Lui2 after fetching her from work. Ron was trying to Jio me for coffee last night around 1am. Siao one he. Anyway Lui2 was trying to sleep and i'm semi-revising for monday lab tests. So i counter Jio-ed him makan tonight. Went to Kovan to eat Teo chew porridge. There are 2 shops selling Teo chew porridge along that street. We tried to go to the 3rd one hidden in Simon St. but it was closed today. Sian. So went to the other shop (Not Halisan). This shop cheaper and the food is similarly good. We spent about $20+ there only. Kel eh and me ate more than Ron. He tried to Jio his ex gf to be with him again but that gal got stead already. So he's damn sian. Another target gone. Hai... Poor thing Ron. Think should start a V-Day dinner plan for him like wat BM did for her fren Moby. Haha. Hai... Too free is it Me...?
